Hi guys, well it’s been a varied few days and a fun month ahead.
This week the Twisted Pop podcast published my interview – it was more coherent than I remember so I was pleased about that! We also were discovered by a new radio station in Australia and the new singles were played on Tuesday, with some incredible commentary, which was uplifting. It still blows my mind that people from the other side of the world can find and listen to something I created out of my imagination!
Earlier in the week I had a rehearsal with John for the event on 14th which was fun. We’re playing some classic hits and some very intricate Joni numbers, and I am thoroughly looking forward to it.
On 20th I’m having lunch with the sponsors of the Venus Awards Musical Talent Award, where I will get to meet the other finalists and chat all things music. They both seem fab so that’s going to be fun.
Next month we have our acoustic club show at Hanger Farm Arts Centre. I’m hoping to broadcast it, so hopefully some of you guys overseas will be able to drop by for a bit. (I’ll get details out to you about that soon). Full of songs that have influenced me, and material old and new from me, including some film score tracks I’ve composed etc.
The following day is the ‘finals’ event for The Venus Awards, which is a big glitzy affair. Need to get some shoes – I don’t think my ball-gown-and-bare-feet will wash at this event.
In the meantime, I’m working on my compositions. At the moment I’m juggling my film scores, a collaboration with an artist in LA, another with an artist in Canada, one of mine that’s been knocking around my head and a charity single for CLIC Sargent.
I’m very excited about the latter as this is the main charity who have supported us this year. It’s an organisation supporting families of young people who have cancer, but I had never heard of them until I needed them. We’ve been talking about an idea I have had to include gang vocals on the track, so we can invite young people who have been effected to be on the track, regardless of whether they ‘can sing’ or not. Mostly I’m looking to raise awareness of this charity, and to give some kids who have been through hell a good day out.
I hope you’re all well and happy.
Thanks for being here.
