It’s not often I get to see a hero of mine play live. I’m ever grateful for the music that found it’s way into my life, but the artists, musicians and legends that inspired me mostly had their hay-days long before I was born. Many of the acts don’t exists anymore and many of them even died before I was born. I have been lucky enough to see some of them though, and last night James Taylor and his All Star Band played at Bournemouth International Centre for me. There were also about 4000 other people there apparently but that was fine with me. What an experience. His voice is as clear as ever, the musicianship was out of this world, and I experienced some songs as completely moving experiences. What a legacy to leave the world. The pictures don’t do it justice at all. During the interval he never left the stage but sat signing autographs and having his picture taken with as many people he could get through. The band came back on and started playing the next song, and he was still signing. Even when two backing singers came over and nagged him to stop, he still continued. Eventually he just stood back up, wandered over to his stool and started the next song.
It was an amazing experience I will never forget, and will take forward with me on my musical journey.
Thank you James Taylor.
