Tonight I met some fantastic new people on twitter. I love how talking about music, poetry and literature brings people from all walks of life together. All ages, life experiences and locations. I’ve chatted with war veterans, fellow musicians, mums and dads, novelists and writers, cat lovers and students.
These are such uncertain times. There is so much to worry about and a terrifying sense of division amongst people, the like of which I’ve never seen in my life.
It might seem like a cop-out, but I do feel like the big pieces are out of our hands. What we have control over is how we treat each other. Together, we build bridges, hand in hand we’re strong. The small niceties and rituals, keeping an open mind and respect for each other, no matter how hard that might seem.
My Nan says, “look after the corners, the middle looks after itself”, and I think she’s right. I think this has an application here, but it’s dancing at the edge of my minds at this late hour.
It’s along the lines of this; I believe if we pull together, focus on our common ground, look for positives in people and lead with kindness, we will increase our chances of a better outcome.
Sending love. No matter how different you may be from me.
Hugs
